Interpretation and Definitions

In this Privacy Policy, "OutstaFlow", "we", "us", and "our" refers to OutstaFlow, operated from Queensland, Australia. "You" and "your" refers to the individual accessing or using our Service. "Service" refers to the OutstaFlow website and macOS application. "Personal Data" means any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

Overview

OutstaFlow is a voice-to-text dictation tool for macOS that operates using a bring-your-own-key (BYOK) model. The application runs locally on your Mac and connects directly to third-party AI services using API keys that you provide. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Information We Collect

Minimal Data

  • License key: Your LemonSqueezy license key is stored locally on your Mac and transmitted to LemonSqueezy for validation. We do not operate a server that processes or stores your license key.
  • Machine identifier: A hashed hardware identifier is sent to LemonSqueezy during license activation to manage device limits.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect, store, or have access to your audio recordings.
  • We do not collect or store your transcription text.
  • We do not collect or store your API keys. Your Groq API key is stored only on your Mac.
  • We do not operate servers that process your data. All AI processing happens directly between your Mac and the third-party API providers you configure.
  • We do not use analytics trackers, advertising pixels, or third-party cookies.

Audio & Transcription Data

Audio is recorded locally on your Mac, sent directly from your Mac to Groq (or another provider you configure) using your own API key, and immediately discarded after transcription. OutstaFlow never transmits your audio to any server we operate. We have no ability to access, view, or store your audio or transcription data.

Local Storage

OutstaFlow stores the following data locally on your Mac in ~/Library/Application Support/OutstaFlow/:

  • Your Groq API key (encrypted file permissions)
  • Your license key and validation cache
  • Preferences (hotkey, settings)
  • Saved voice snippets
  • Daily usage counters (for free tier limits)

This data never leaves your Mac except for API calls you initiate (to Groq for transcription, to LemonSqueezy for license validation).

Third-Party Services

OutstaFlow connects to the following third-party services using credentials you provide. Each service has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for how these services handle your data:

Cookies & Tracking

We do not use analytics trackers, advertising pixels, or third-party cookies. The OutstaFlow website does not set any cookies. The macOS application does not transmit any telemetry or usage analytics.

Data Security

All network communication uses TLS (HTTPS) encryption. Local credential files are stored with restricted file permissions (owner-only access). However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention & Deletion

Since OutstaFlow stores all data locally on your Mac, you have full control over your data at all times. To delete all OutstaFlow data, simply delete the application and the ~/Library/Application Support/OutstaFlow/ folder. We do not retain any data on our servers because we do not operate data-processing servers.

Your Rights Under Australian Privacy Law

Under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal information. Since we do not collect or store your personal data on our servers, these rights are inherently satisfied — your data remains on your device under your control. You may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy has been breached.

Children's Privacy

OutstaFlow is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Queensland.
